Marbella Design 2021

At Marbella Design 2021 (Ferromagno by José Lara), Hisbalit is offering a preview of its most natural collection: RAW. An innovative, ondulated mosaic tile that evokes the look and feel of natural fibres.

Hisbalit, participating for the second time in this prestigious international exhibition, held until the 14th of November, looks to the past to recover one of its most emblematic formats, a 4×4 undulated mosaic tile inspired in traditional materials: linen, gypsum, jute, cotton, silk, earth, coal and aluminium. Hisbalit recovers the vernacular, the natural, returning to essentials. Raw, rough, pure, brute, unpolished, strong; RAW is a tribute to the past as well as to sustainability and contemporary design, providing timeless character to spaces and a synergy between tradition and design. The RAW collection has striking ondulated texture and range of colours to reproduce the look and feel of natural fibres.

Curved walls

One of the surprises of the Ferromagno space by José Lara is the new mosaic tile from Hisbalit, 100% eco-friendly with an imperfect finish that gives the look of movement and ondulated curves. The interior designer José Lara chose the Jute reference from the new RAW collection for the surface of two sensuously curved walls that welcome visitors to a sophisticated relaxation area. An ode to creativity, craftsmanship and the beautify of imperfection.

Craft and tradition

“Forms on Fire”, Space D 13, transports the visitor to an atemporal space offering a fusion of design and savoir faire, creating a visual synergy that evokes ancestral purity and the sophistication of the future. José Lara created an interplay of symmetries to create a luminous space of harmony and balance.

The designer visited the atelier of Ferromagno, designers and creators of cast metal furnishings, and perceived the beauty and artistry of the casting process. He was captivated by the traditional craftsmanship and skill and how serendipity and nature play a role in the process, producing whimsical forms that make each piece entirely unique. Thus inspired, the designer highlights different types of furnishings, balancing the hard, polished surfaces of brass and aluminium with soft and delicate materials such as textiles and upholstery, wood and clay, and Hisbalit mosaic tiles inspired in nature.

Artistic application of mosaic tile

Hisbalit is also present in “Raíces”, the space by Javier Escobar at the Marbella Design Fair. A foyer of a hotel spa, Space B-08/C-08, with natural artisanal elements that reflect the traditions and agricultural history of the land of El Ejido.

The designer offers an artistic mural based on a design created using the Art Factory personalisation service by Hisbalit. The tiles were installed by hand, piece by piece, using clay mortar. This artistic application represents the mosaic of Ciavieja, an inscription discovered in the ancient Roman city of Murgis in what is now El Ejido.

To create the mural, Javier Escobar chose 4 references of Hisbalit mosaic tile with a matte finish: Unicolor 221 (green), Stone 562 (brown), Stone 564 (grey) and Stone 568 (white), all in 2.3×2.3 cm format.

Marbella Design 2021

The fourth edition of the fair is being held simultaneously with Art Marbella. This double event combines contemporary art, interior design and haute décor. Over 150 firms are participating in the event held at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones Adolfo Suárez of Marbella from the 4th to the 14th of November. The 46 spaces occupy a diaphanous space of over 3,000 m2 offering an avantgarde display of design, furnishings, exclusive works of art and eco-friendly materials.
The theme of the exhibition, expected to receive over 12,000 visitors, is the emblematic towns and architecture of Andalucia, reconceptualised through the design of Alfonso Castellón, architectural director of the fair. In this context, the spaces of the exhibition evoke the style and architecture of the region whose aesthetic values and beauty have long endured and creating a deep bond with the Costa del Sol.

Hisbalit in Marbella Design

This is the second time Hisbalit has participated in the exhibition. In 2019, Hisbalit surfaced two spaces at the trade fair: Timeless and Violet Bliss, which received the Most Creative Space Award at Marbella Design 2019.

For Timeless, the interior designer Sandra Amate created a unique design using the Art Factory customisation service and Nayra Iglesias produced an exquisite, personal design for Violet Bliss with the Hisbalit mix configurator.
