Installation of Hisbalit mosaic

Proper installation is essential to ensure durability and a flawless finish.

Follow these steps to achieve an impeccable result:

Step-by-step technical guide

1. Surface preparation:

Clean, level, and ensure adhesion. Make sure the substrate is clean, level, dry, and stable.

Apply a uniform layer of cement-based adhesive (2–3 mm thick) using a 3 mm notched trowel (recommended type C2TES1 for zero-absorption materials).

2. Adhesion:

Place the Hisbalit sheets onto the adhesive, aligning them and ensuring a 2 mm gap between them so that all joints are consistent.

3. Placement:

Using a rubber or wooden trowel, gently tap the surface to ensure perfect adhesion of the mosaic to the adhesive layer.

4. Grouting:

Once the adhesive has dried, fill the joints using a trowel and a suitable joint material: cement-based CG2W or epoxy R2/RT, recommended for wet areas or spaces with salt chlorination systems.

Apply diagonally.

5. Final cleaning:

Clean with a damp sponge and rinse. Finish with a dry cloth.

TIP

In wet areas, use epoxy grout for greater durability.

Recommended materials

  • Cement adhesive: EN 12004 / EN 12002 C2TES1
  • Grout: UNE-EN 13888 CG2W or epoxy R2/RT
  • Tools: notched trowel, rubber trowel, sponge, utility knife, and window squeegee

On surfaces with Class 3 anti-slip finish or colored grout, perform a prior cleaning test to avoid stains or porosity.

ZERO RENOVATION:

Installation over existing surfaces

Want to renovate without demolition? With Hisbalit, it’s possible.

Thanks to its ultra-thin thickness of just 4 mm, the mosaic can be installed directly over existing surfaces without removing the original material.

This allows you to completely transform a space—bathroom, kitchen, or pool—without construction work, noise, or debris, saving time, money, and inconvenience.

For optimal installation, the existing surface must be stable, level, clean, and dry. This ensures maximum adhesion and durability of the new mosaic.

No noise, no dust, no complications—and significant savings in time and cost.
