About the product
What makes Hisbalit glass mosaic different from other coverings on the market?
Hisbalit stands out as the most precise glass mosaic on the market, with flat tesserae and perfectly square edges. In addition, the Hisbalit joint is the smallest available—just 2 mm—giving full prominence to the mosaic.
Made from premium-quality glass, it has no stains, pores, or surface imperfections.
Does it lose color over time?
No. Hisbalit mosaic remains unchanged even under extreme conditions such as sun, cold, heat, or humidity. It maintains its shape, color, and texture over time.
Is it weather-resistant?
Yes. It is fully resistant to sun, rain, frost, and sudden temperature changes (thermal shock).
Is it eco-friendly?
Yes. It is made from 100% recycled glass and natural pigments—a sustainable product manufactured in Spain.
About installation
Can any tile adhesive be used?
No. As a zero-absorption material, it requires a specific adhesive: C2TES1 cement-based adhesive, compliant with EN 12004 and EN 12002 standards.
What type of grout is recommended?
Hisbalit recommends a cement-based grout classified as CG2W according to UNE-EN 13888, or epoxy grout R2/RT. Epoxy grout is especially important in saltwater pools, wet areas, or surfaces exposed to constant dirt.
Does it ensure waterproofing?
Not directly. Waterproofing must be applied before installation. Combining a waterproof base, suitable adhesive, and hydrophobic grout ensures a safe and durable barrier.
What type of substrate is recommended?
Any stable, level, and clean surface: fine render with waterproof mortar, sprayed concrete, sprayed plaster, or plasterboard.
Can it be installed over existing tiles?
Yes. Thanks to its 4 mm thickness, it can be installed directly over existing surfaces, provided they are stable, level, dry, and clean (see “Zero Renovation”).
Can it be used with underfloor heating?
Yes. Use an adhesive suitable for radiant heating systems and respect curing and setting times.
How long does properly installed Hisbalit mosaic last?
Its average lifespan is between 30 and 40 years, with no aesthetic or structural alterations.
Applications and uses
Where can Hisbalit mosaic be installed?
On any interior or exterior surface: pools, façades, floors, walls, showers, fireplaces, stairs, countertops, or furniture.
Its size allows adaptation even to curved surfaces.
Is it suitable for flooring?
Yes. Its resistance to surface and deep abrasion makes it ideal even for high-traffic public areas.
A Class 3 anti-slip finish is recommended for safety.
Does it scratch when used as flooring?
No. It is highly resistant to wear and friction, even in high-traffic areas.
Can it be used as a shower tray?
Yes. It is ideal for walk-in showers, as it adapts to slopes without cuts. A 2% slope toward the drain and a waterproof membrane underneath are required.
Is it recommended for ventilated façades?
Yes. It can be installed in ventilated façade systems using appropriate adhesives and methods, ensuring durability and safety.
Cleaning and maintenance
Does it require special maintenance?
No. Regular cleaning with neutral products is sufficient.
Being non-porous, it prevents mold, bacteria, and stains caused by absorption.
Is it resistant to chemicals?
Yes. It withstands even aggressive chemical agents, making it ideal for pools and spas.
