G-HOUSE! AN ATTIC WITH AN INDOOR POOL INCORPORATED INTO THE LIVING ROOM!

Imagine being able to take a refreshing plunge in the fresh air without leaving your own living room. Take inspiration from the work by  Gon Architects in G-House! A vibrant and multifunctional attic space filled with sensations. The flat is designed for a single person looking for lots of space to share with guests and to enjoy every moment: sitting by the fireplace, reading on the terrace surrounded by natural vegetation or bathing in a pool with the windows open.

Two key concepts, hedonism and pleasure, were the inspiration for Gon Architects in their renovation of this 121 m2 flat in central Madrid (Conde Duque).

An urban oasis, with two terraces, combine strong, intense colours, such as blue, with white as the basis of the project.

Along with a rigorously functional organisation, this home takes other considerations into account, both real and dream-like. The attic is a diaphanous space, free of walls or partitions. The spaces blend together to adapt to any occasion or circumstance.

Cooking, eating, sleeping, socialising, working or relaxing all take place in a fluid environment, defined by the forms and positions of the furnishings. There are a series of rooms for wellness and bathing, connected to the heart of the home. A central wood panelled closet / storage unit is the axis joining both worlds.

Secret bathroom

Within the doors of the central storage unit is a hidden access to the bathroom. A surprising space filled with light. The designer chose white Hisbalit eco-friendly mosaic tiles (Unicolor 103) in 4×4 format for the walls, floors and shower area, creating a feeling of balance and continuity. Colour is added on the ceiling, painted a bright yellow.

BATHTUB OR POOL?

One of the keys of this renovation is the creation of a custom bathtub with a “pool effect”. An idyllic space with a view of the living room, surrounded by large picture windows flooding the space with direct sunlight.

For privacy, and to add a feel of nature, the designers installed an outdoor planter box over 10 metres long.

The customised, built-in bathtub is surfaced in white, eco-friendly mosaic tiles from Hisbalit, a hygienic and anti-allergenic material perfect for wet areas. To give continuity to the space, the bathtub is surfaced in the same reference as the bathroom: Unicolor 103 in 4×4 format.
